Chapter 9

Nessandra Thomson was a stoic woman, in Aubri’s opinion. After initially meeting with her in her office, Aubri told her that she wanted to see the footage. She didn’t change her oddly neutral expression at all as she led Aubri to the security room.

“I just think it might be possible one of the staff, or guests in the bar that night, might’ve killed Colin.” Aubri managed, as Nessandra ordered the security to replay the footage from last night. “And...I just want to see if anyone followed him.” She wasn’t sure if she would see Renee following Colin out. What then?

“I see.” Nessandra looked towards the security guard, who she’d asked to pull up said footage on one of the main screens in the room. “When did the fight start?”

“Started at nine-forty-five last night.” The security guard muttered, as the footage began replaying. Renee appeared on the screen, as well as Colin, and Aubri felt her guts twist as the familiar argument began between those two.

“What did you say about her, you jerk!?”

“You heard me.” Colin and Renee were in the standoff from last night, complete with the definitely drunk and staggering Colin. “That piece of ass is a sugar baby, didn’t you know? She’s a gold digger. Bet she only dated you in high school ‘cause you’re rich. She just took a good look at all the expensive stuff you carried around with you, I bet, and took to you like a bear to honey! I know that you’re the daughter of some big-shot company overseas. That’s the only fucking reason you got that internship after highschool! Not surprised she dated you.”

“Liar.” Renee looked scandalized; eyes wide as she blanched. “You’re lying!”

Aubri swallowed as she watched the conversation ensue, getting more and more aggressive. She tried not to think much of how Renee would or could possibly kill Colin. She knew Renee’s temper could when she wanted it to, and her fight with Colin was a good example of that. But did that mean she was the killer?

Colin raised his voice, trying to gesture in Aubri’s direction as Aubri and Bastian were already leaving, “She’s a slut for money, Renee! She’s always been some slut! She was sugaring behind my back!”

Renee hissed, before punching Colin hard in the face, hard enough for him to stagger back. “You fucking liar! Stop insulting my ex-girlfriend, you asshole!!”

Several of the crowd backed up when Colin punched Renee back, before both grappled with each other for several seconds. Renee managed to even push Colin into the table, just as Colin ripped the scarf off Renee’s neck.

That was when security barged towards Renee and Colin, one of them yelling “Break it up!” Colin and Renee yelled insults and slurs at each other as they were dragged out of the bar, while one of the bartenders got to work trying to calm the otherwise shocked crowds.

“Ms. Harlow?” Aubri looked towards Nessandra, who frowned. “As far as I’m seeing, this video footage only gives stronger evidence against Ms.
